There are a variety of ways to get involved at Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Intermountain Area. Get involved, and help keep families close when they need each other most.

Volunteers are the Heart of the House

The impact our volunteers have cannot adequately be described with words.  From the house to the family rooms, at special events and even off site they are making our mission possible by dedicating their time and talents; making families stronger and RMHC better.  Explore the many ways, individuals, groups, businesses and other organizations are getting involved to make our house a home-away-from-home.

GET INVOLVED TODAY!

Individual

Use your time, talents and heart to make our House and Family Room a home-away-from-home. There are opportunities for individuals to volunteer in many areas.

The Front Desk: Front desk Volunteers help with the check in and out process for families, give tours, answer phone calls, accept donations, sort donations, drive our shuttle and work on a variety of projects our staff needs help with.

Holiday and Special Events: Individuals are always needed to volunteer at special events and charity fundraisers throughout the year as well as during the holiday season.

School Service: School Service Volunteers help out with numerous projects in many departments and program areas.  They are designed for students 16 years and older.

Group

Bring your friends, family, school group or team out for a day of service at the Ronald McDonald House or the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms.

Holiday and Special Events: Groups are always needed to volunteer at special events and charity fundraisers throughout the year as well as during the holiday season.

All you need to do is fill out the group volunteer form. Groups sizes are limited to 20 people at the Ronald McDonald House and 8 People at the Ronald McDonald Family Room.

Organize a unique, hands-on team-building experience for your employees or co-workers.

Volunteers require completion of the Volunteer Application Form a meeting with the Volunteer Manager and successfully completing a background check.

Help make families feel at home by Adopting-a-Meal at our Ronald McDonald House or Ronald McDonald Family Room at Primary Children’s Hospital. This program invites friends, families, co-workers, school, community or church groups to cook meals for families with a seriously ill or injured child staying in Salt Lake City area hospitals.

Adopt-a-Meal at the House

The Kitchen is the Heart of the House

We are eagerly looking for Adopt-a-Meal volunteers to help us create a “home away from home” by providing meals for families whose children have life-threatening illness. This program invites friends, families, co-workers, school, community or church groups to cook meals for families staying at the Salt Lake City Ronald McDonald House.

Groups:

Groups up to 15
Any volunteers under 16 must have adult supervision

Volunteers are asked to:

PROVIDE food for 25-60 people (depending on the meal)
PREPARE the meal at the Ronald McDonald House
SERVE generously with lots of smiles for the families in our community kitchen

Breakfast served at 9:00am, Lunch served at 12:00pm, Dinner served at 6:00pm

To Reserve a Meal Date:

  1. Review the calendar for blank spaces; these are available dates for meals.
  2. Submit your selected meal date and alternative.
  3. The Hospitality Manager will contact you to confirm your date
  4. You will be contacted a week prior to your meal to provide your menu for our families.

Provide a Meal at the Family Room at Primary Children’s Hospital

Family Room Adopt-a-Meal volunteers help to create a place of rest and rejuvenation for families who have children at Primary Children’s Hospital. This program invites friends, families, co-workers, school, community or church groups to cook meals for families at the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Primary Children’s Hospital.

Groups:

Groups up to 10
Any volunteers under 16 must have adult supervision

Volunteers are asked to:

PROVIDE food for 25-60 people (depending on the meal)

SERVE generously with lots of smiles for the families in our community kitchen

Breakfast served at 10:00am, Lunch served at 1:00pm, Dinner served at 6:00pm

Help Make our House Feel Like a Home

Below is a list of our most current needs. Please note that ALL items must be NEW for the health of our families. Donations may be delivered to 935 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84102.

Current Needs:

  • Induction pots and pans
  • Paper towels
  • HE liquid laundry soap
  • Dryer sheets
  • Costco® gift cards
  • Wood cleaner/ polish
  • Sanitizing wipes (Clorox wipes)
  • Chapstick/lip balm
  • Kids cereal
  • Frozen dinners
  • Individual snack items
  • Lunch meat and cheese

Save the aluminum pull tabs from soda cans and bring them to the House. The proceeds from recycling support the cost of House operations.Learn more.

Pop Tabs are found on millions of beverage and food cans.  It’s these small, all too often overlooked pop tabs that are proving to be a tremendous source of charitable revenue for Ronald McDonald Houses.  With the cooperation of schools, companies, and individuals in the community, the Ronald McDonald House in Salt lake City has raised thousands of dollars since the program kicked-off in April of 1997.  Contact our volunteer manager for stickers and more information about this program.  All pop tab donations can be brought to our location at 935 E. South Temple 7 days a week 9am-9pm.

Grassroots Fundraisers

Organize a small fundraiser to benefit our families like a garage sale with your family or neighborhood, a car wash/lemonade stand or even a Penny war between classes, teams or competing schools. Contact our Event Manager Stephanie to learn more.

McDonald’s Canister Information

By dropping spare change in McDonald’s canisters, you contribute to the Ronald McDonald House’s ability to provide support to children and families in local communities around the world. The Canister Program is one our most critical fundraisers.
